Chorley Tennis Club highly
values its junior members, warmly welcoming all newcomers and encouraging
young players to join the seniors
on court. It’s a great place to play tennis, whether you’re
a junior who’s looking for a friendly introduction to the
sport or a more advanced player seeking competitive play.
Clubmark
In July 2011, Chorley Tennis Club were awarded
Tennis Clubmark, a nationally recognised quality accreditation
scheme for sports clubs with junior sections. Tennis Clubmark ensures
that Chorley Tennis Club:
• has a fair and transparent operational structure
• adheres to best practice policies and procedures around safeguarding
junior and adult members/users
• delivers a comprehensive and all-encompassing tennis programme
for all ages and abilities
• produces a clear plan of action for long term sustainability and
future growth
Tennis Committee
A dedicated Tennis Committee ensures that the Club is a great place
for juniors to play tennis. Our head of tennis, child protection
officer, coaches and junior team captains work together to improve
tennis for Chorley’s juniors.
Coaching
Two LTA licensed and fully qualified coaches (Simon Brewer and
Keith Eckersall) lead the coaching sessions taking place at Chorley
Tennis Club. Coaching is available to all standards of player and
is offered on a group and individual basis. By licensing through
the LTA, our coaches ensure that their knowledge and skills are
up-to-date and that they are aware of important changes and modern
standards.

Members and non-members are welcome. Costs are for a block of
six weeks and there is a discount for members.
Other coaching
Simon Brewer occasionally leads group coaching for older children;
this varies from season to season.
Pay to Play Saturday Sessions from 18th May
2013
Pay to Play sessions take place at the Club on Saturday mornings.
These are run by Chris Bolton and Peter Baldwin and are open to
both members and non-members. Players do not need to book a place;
just turn up on the day.

Junior Teams
Two teams currently represent Chorley Tennis Club in the Junior
Ribble League: an Under 16s team and an
Under 14s team.
Competition
Throughout the year, Chorley Tennis Club runs competitions for
its junior members,
including:
• annual Junior Tournament
• John Chatterley Doubles Tournament
• American Tournaments
* new singles juniors tournament run by Paula and Adrian Thornton:
Junior Singles
Boys Under 16 and Girls Under 16 (currently in School Year 11 or
lower)
Boys Under 14 and Girls Under 14 (currently in School Year 9 or
lower)
Boys Under 12 and Girls Under 12 (currently in School Year 7 or
lower)
Entry to these events is free.
Family Doubles. This will be handicapped
and each team will comprise one parent (any age) and one child
under 16 (currently School Year
11 or lower). Entry to
this event is £3 per pair.

The Club celebrates its juniors’ success
at Presentation Evening with
prizes and trophies galore!
Social Tennis
Saturday afternoons are Juniors’ time. Please note,
these sessions are informal and unsupervised, see above.
Advanced Juniors are also welcome
to join in with the Club’s senior social
tennis sessions on a Tuesday evening and on a Sunday afternoon. These timeslots
are set aside for informal friendly games for those looking to just turn up
and play. Juniors also have priority over Court One during this
time for their own play.
Facilities
Chorley Tennis Club not only has five full-sized all-weather
courts, but also two mini tennis courts, which are a great introduction
to the sport for our
mini juniors. The Club also provides mini tennis equipment at its mini red,
orange
and green coaching sessions. Chorley’s juniors also have access to court
number 1, one of the full-sized courts, at most times.
Free Membership – don’t
miss out!
Seeking to introduce more youngsters to the game, Chorley Tennis Club offers
free membership for juniors aged 6 and under who are participating in coaching
sessions at the Club. The membership comes with all of the benefits of full
junior membership!
